How to schedule YouTube Shorts (and post them everywhere else too)
YouTube lets you schedule uploads natively, but the flow is clunky for Shorts: you upload, set visibility to Private, pick a publish date, and repeat for every video — and it lives only inside YouTube Studio, separate from wherever you post your TikToks and Reels. If you're publishing the same vertical clips across platforms, here's a cleaner way.
Shorts are just vertical videos — treat them that way
A YouTube Short is a video under 3 minutes in a 9:16 aspect ratio. That's the same file you're already posting to TikTok and Instagram Reels. The only things that change per platform are the metadata:
- Title matters more on YouTube than anywhere else — it's searchable and shows in the Shorts feed. Make it descriptive, not clickbait.
- Description can hold keywords and links.
- Hashtags help categorize, but a few relevant ones beat a wall of them.
The scheduling workflow
- Edit the vertical clip. Keep it tight; Shorts reward a fast hook.
- Write a searchable title. Think about what someone would type to find this.
- Set the publish time. YouTube audiences skew toward evenings and weekends, but check your own Analytics.
- Queue it so it goes live automatically at that time.
Publish Shorts alongside everything else
The real time-saver isn't scheduling Shorts in isolation — it's scheduling them next to the identical Reel and TikTok in one place. Upload the video once, fan it out to every platform, and give each one its own title and caption without re-uploading the file.
A note on captions
Shorts with on-screen captions hold attention better, and a keyword-rich description helps discovery. You can generate both automatically from the video's audio instead of writing them from scratch.
Do it in Clipfinch
Clipfinch connects your YouTube channel through Google's official OAuth, lets you trim the Short in the browser, drafts a title, description, and tags from the audio, and schedules it to publish automatically — in the same queue as your Reels, TikToks, and LinkedIn posts. Get started.
